Fire Causes Structural Damage in Vacant New Haven County Home
This fire started in a second floor bedroom of a vacant home after a possible vandalism attempt.
Because the home was vacant, there was no heat or electricity in the structure and the power needed to be restored prior to the work starting. The home also needed to be winterized to stop any secondary damages from occurring.
We started by securing the home and walked the homeowner through our step by step procedure. We wanted to bring the home into safe and stable condition. Substantial fire damage on the second floor and attic required demolition and heavy cleaning. This fire also caused heavy soot and a strong smoke odor throughout the entire first floor and basement. We used dry and wet cleaning methods to remove the soot from surfaces and materials.
Once the cleaning process was completed, the customer liked it so much they decided to finish the attic space. This added extra living space and turned a disaster into an investment; which increased the value of the home. Should the unexpected happen to your home or business, we are prepared to handle any size disaster to make it, “Like it never even happened.”
