Furnace Puffback in Middlesex County, CT Home Causes Smoke and Soot Damage

When the furnace of this Westbrook home had a puff back, the entire home was covered with a fine layer of sticky soot, black ash and soot cobwebs. Our team had to demolish much of the interior - including walls, flooring, insulation and appliances. After we'd removed the damaged materials, we were able to begin the task of restoring the home.

Because the soot was oil based, we used chemical sponges to clean the hard surfaces. The wall studs were cleaned and sealed. We used HEPA vacuums to clean hard to reach places such as wall cavities.
