Emergency Fire Damage Board Up and Restoration in New Haven Area Home
A devastating fire in this New Haven County home burned through the roof, leaving the house exposed. The SERVPRO of Milford-Orange-Stratford team was called for an emergency board up and tarping.
The first stage of our restoration process was to protect the home from further damage. The exposed walls of the home and garage were boarded up. The roof was so badly damaged that our contractor, Chuck, and his team needed to build a truss with which they held the tarp on the roof.
After the home was boarded up, we began the fire restoration process. A dumpster was ordered and we began removing the debris from the home. This included removing walls that no longer connected to the floor nor the ceiling as well as ceiling materials, flooring and insulation.
After a fire, there is secondary water damage from the fire department's rescue effort. We extracted the water from the home. Following the removal of the water and fire damaged debris, as well the hazardous waste, the house was cleaned and sanitized. We also winterized the plumbing in the house so that the pipes wouldn't freeze and burst while it was being rebuilt over the winter.
Not only are house fires physically damaging to a home, they are emotionally traumatic to the homeowners as well. During this difficult time, the team at SERVPRO of Milford-Orange-Stratford strives to make the restoration process as easy as possible for our customers.
